Design Approach

At CWL Design in collaboration with CFR, we use Design as a tool to extract commercial value, public value, function, form, human experiences and meaning from a project. We take pride in our ability to find solutions that work on multiple levels. Our approach to developing design briefs are highly personalised, taking into account specific requirements of our client’s needs and the Project Brief. Our designs demonstrate an intimate knowledge of Ecologically Sustainable Architecture and an understanding of tropical living and the Asian vernacular.

Lim Cho Wei

Principal, B.Arch UNSW

Lim Cho Wei formed CWL Design in 2002. Being Australian trained, Malaysian Architect, CWLD has since built a reputation for designing special and unique, small to medium scale residential projects.

Upon graduating in 1997, Cho-Wei spent 5 years honing his skills at CSL Associates, where he trained directly under the indomitable Prof. Dr. Jimmy Lim Cheok Siang. During this tenure at CSL Associates, Cho-Wei worked on a number of Award Winning Projects. Collaborative work continues with Prof Dr. Jimmy Lim. on a large variety of projects.

Tan Shen Wain

Managing Director, SAP

Tan Shen Wain is currently the Managing Director of CFR – a boutique property developer and real estate advisory specialist. Tan Shen Wain has oversighted a portfolio of properties with a combined 1 million square feet consisting of residential units in Malaysia. With this experience, he is constantly focused on cost-management, yield optimization and producing positive experiences in living spaces to occupants.

His network, experience and expertise in project management, regulatory advisory (land and strata expert) and asset management will be valuable to ensure projects are a success.

Previously: Shen began his career focused in Banking and Asset Management with financial institutions Hong Leong Bank that helped pioneered its Private Banking division as a Business Strategy Manager and Prudential-East Spring Investment (AUM of over USD 100 millions) as a product specialist. He gained a disciplined approach in a corporate culture and instills this standard in his current firm.
